AMD Radeon Instinct MI50 from AMD Inc.

I am delighted to receive an AMD Radeon Instinct MI50 from AMD Inc. This GPU will be useful for me and my peers for conducting research inside Prof. Peter Richtárik’s Optimization and Machine Learning Lab within the KAUST AI initiative.

Recently AMD team members have published the first textbook on programming with the Heterogenous Interface for Portability C++ Language Extension (HIP). Anyone who is interested can buy a Kindle or hard copy: Link-1, Link-2.

The HIP is part of the Radeon Open Ecosystem (ROCm) which is an open-source software platform for High-Performance Computing and Artificial Intelligence and it includes HIP as one of its components.
